Nouvelle surprise de taille lors des relevés des derniers pièges photographiques du CAT-TRIN Project, la présence du Grison (Galictis vittata) sur les images ! Le Grison (qui appartient à la famille des Mustélidés comme la Loutre géante ou la Martre à tête grise), est aperçu arpentant tranquillement un tronc couché. Un dos gris, un corps trapu évoquant un blaireau, un museau noir surmonté d'une ligne blanche bien marquée au niveau des yeux, l'animal est aisément identifiable. Il s'agit d'une première mention de l'espèce pour la réserve d'un animal fort discret dans le bloc forestier de l'intérieur de la Guyane, la plupart des observations se cantonnant à des habitats variés de la plaine littorale.

Another big surprise when reviewing the latest camera trap images from the CAT-TRIN Project: the presence of the Greater Grison (Galictis vittata) in the pictures! The Greater Grison (which belongs to the Mustelidae family, like the Giant otter and the Tayra) can be seen calmly walking along a fallen tree trunk. With its grey back, stocky body reminiscent of a badger, and black muzzle topped by a distinctive white line above the eyes, the animal is easily identifiable. This is the first mention of the species in the reserve for this highly discreet animal in the forest block of inland French Guiana, with most sightings confined to various habitats on the coastal plain.
